The Cruise

For those of you who don't know, I just came back from a cruise yesterday. A 4 day 3 night cruise to Penang. It's really hard to write all the events that happened during those four days but I will try my best to squeeze everything that I remember in a (hopefully) short post.

First day:
Reached Harbourfront station at about 10:50 am.
Met up with everyone who was going on the cruise.
Went on the ship.
Immediately ate lunch (buffet). Food was okay, but not that great.
Went to our cabins. Deb and I shared one.
Our thoughts - "WOW!!! LOOK AT THIS, NO LOOK AT THAT! OUR OWN BED! "
Went out to explore the ship.
We saw an indoor pool, gym and spa.
Had to get ready for fine dining at 6:00pm.
Showered, got dressed up.
We went to the restaurant and had dinner.
Food so nice. So full ar.
Then we went back to our cabin to rest.
After that, we went to watch a concert.
Very entertaining. There was dancing and drum beating by some Argentinians.
Walked around again.
Then, we made new friends, including a bartender.
Another friends was a distant relative of our uncle.
We watched her sing karaoke, and there was a couple dancing to her singing. Awww....
She sang "Ting Hai" - by Amei
Walked around.
Sleeep.

Second day:
Woke up at 6:20am to go to the gym.
Everyone was using the treadmill, so we tried other equipments.
Showered and went for breakfast.
Breakfast + Buffet = Pigging out.
I enjoyed the scrambled eggs a lot!
Walked around again.
The ship docked and we were in Penang.
Took a van to a shopping centre (reminded me of Suntec City a little).
The young ones (including me) split from the adults and went on our own.
Walked around on our own, and finally spent the last 30 minutes looking at people roller skate in an enclosed space. It was funny seeing people fall. :P
At 4pm, we took off to eat our dinner.
We ate char kuay teow, laksa and oyster. It was delicious.
Then we went to another place that sold home grown herbs and spices.
Got bored there.
Then we went to eat desert - Chendol (spelling?) and ice kachang.
Went back to the cruise.
Showered and got ready for another concert.
This time, it showcased a lady, known as the having the world's fastest fingers, as in on the piano.
Her playing was awesome.
At the end, she asked for 10 requests of songs. Apparently, she knew 0ver 2000 songs.
And so, one by one asked her.
Being random, I told Debbie to say Pretty Woman.
And Debbie shouted out "Pretty Woman!". And she heard!
True to her word, she played all 10, including our request. :)
She was really good.
Walked around.
Sleep.

Third Day:
Overslept, woke up at 8:30am.
Ate breakfast.
After a few hours of resting in the cabin, we went to the gym.
Spent 30 minutes on the treadmill. And a few minutes on other equipments.
Went back to the cabin to shower.
Got a call from our grandmother that the aunties and uncles were playing mahjong.
We went up and watched.
Then, aunties had to eat lunch.
As we weren't hungry, we stayed behind to reserve the table.
Deb and I played cards, scrabble, and a made up game of roulette.
Then, it was our turn to eat lunch.
Again, we went to the buffet place to eat lunch.
Went back to cabin to rest.
Showered, and got ready for another fine dining.
At the end of our dinner, all the waiters danced to "Jai Ho". It was cool.
Then, we went to another concert that featured dancing and singing.
After, we attended a "Rock n' Roll Party", kinda like a farewell party.
There was music and people dancing to it.
At the end, there was a congo line, and we were in it! It was fun and tiring too.
Finally, the young ones went up to the card room and played games.
Finally at 3am, we shut our eyes and slept.

Last Day:
Woke up feeling extremely tired.
Ate breakfast.
Departed from the ship.
Took train back to Mama's house.
Told Mum about all the events that you've just read.
Mum went out.
Chloe came.
Me? I slept in the afternoon.

The End.
P.S: pictures will be up soon.

Avatar (The Journey & Movie)

The picture tells it all. The most anticipated movie of the year premiered today and we were lucky enough to catch it. But it wasn't all that smooth. Not the movie, but the journey to the movie.

As it is a 3D movie, I decided to wear contacts that day. After wearing the contacts, I felt something in my right eye. But I tried ignoring it. And so we left the house. Chloe and Debbie were sympathetic enough to ask me repeatedly if I was alright. They both offered their own advice. In the train, I couldn't take it anymore and took the first advice that I heard at that point.

Debbie: When this happens to me, I always press my palm on my eye and push right, left, clockwise, etc.

And so I did. My sight kinda blurred, but I thought it was because of my eyes tearing. When we reached the station, I realised (with shock), my right contacts had gone. I was freaking out that it fell without me knowing. I DID NOT want to watch AVATAR with only one clear eye... I was scared and pissed at the same time. But I did feel that the top of my eye was painful. Chloe told me that the contacts had gone to the top of the eye and not on the pupil. So I rubbed my eyelids and the contacts came off! I was so relieved, but then I had to put it back in.

And so we ran to the Cathay building and went into the "handicap" toilet. I put it back in after wetting it. To be safe, I wet my eyes with water. And it was fine! Phew!

Back to the movie. The movie is a breath of fresh air. Nothing I have seen before. The images are spectacular, colourful, exciting and WOW in 3D! I have nothing but great reviews for the movie, both story and acting wise. James Cameron really outdid himself. Hope it does well! The movie deserves it.

Sentosa FTW! (Part 2)

Again, look from down to up. Thanks! :D

Sentosa FTW!

We woke up at 8 am, when we were meant to wake up at 7:30 am. So we were late. We "rushed" and went to Mama's house at 8:45 am. We showered and got ready... for Sentosa!

In my experience, Sentosa was pretty boring a few years ago. But I was pleasantly surprised. First, we went to Vivocity to eat our breakfast. Good ol' Kaya Toast and Half-boiled Eggs and Milo (for us kids). After that, we took a monorail to Imbiah station (somewhere in Sentosa island). From there, the fun started.

The luge was the first of many fun things we did in Sentosa. At first, we were anxious about what could happen. We wore our helmets and went down to the starting area. We sat in our luges, with the worker instructing us on how to brake, start and steer. Once we were done, she let us go. I went straight off, with Chloe and Debbie trailing behind me. I don't know what happen to Da Gu, but I was sure she was taking her own sweet time riding the luge. Soon as we left, Chloe and Debbie zoomed past me. And I couldn't catch up.

It was a very thrilling experience. One I cannot forget. We reached the end point and put our helmets back. Then we realised they took our pictures as we were riding down the "race"course. I looked serious while the girls looked like they were having fun. And Da Gu...

Next, the skyride! This were my emotions as we rode the skyride. Excited > In Awe > Anxious > Scared > Holding on to dear life > "Is it over"? > Relieved > Peaceful

(I'm scared of heights).

We went on the Tiger Sky Tower and caught a long glimpse of the whole of Sentosa. I also managed to see the current stage of Universal Studios Singapore. It should be done soon.

Then, we went on to try the Cinema 4D magix. And it was. The seats moved abruptly, there were "spiders" that climbed on our legs, wind blew in the back our necks and water sprayed at us in the face. The first, and probably not the last.

Onto Desperados. This was a first person shooting game. They record our score as we tried shooting the targets. First stage was practice. Second stage was the real thing. And so, we shot as many targets as we could. The best player was shown on the screen. And the worst too. Guess who? CHLOE! Her face was shown with only 1 point scored. Then, they put a donkey face on her face. HILARIOUS! Will not forget this.

Next was the Extreme Log Ride. You know those rides where everyone sit in a confined space. And the machine is moving but it feels like you are on a roller coaster. It was fun, but not that fulfilling.

Lunch at Subway! And guess what? We saw teams of Amazing race running around Sentosa. That was so cool! Watch out for the next season... Sentosa might be the pit stop for a leg of the race!

Underwater world was waiting for us after lunch. First, we went to watch the sealion show. Then we fed the stingrays and went inside the famous tunnel. What a fun experience looking at marine life.

With so much fun spent on the luge, we decided to do it again, and again. And we took the skyride again. We were actually meant to take the second (and last) skyride of the day, when a thunderstorm occured. I think we waited for 1 hr until it was safe to ride again. I think the wait was what got us tired, and that was when we went home.

LOOK AT THE PICTURES FROM DOWN TO UP! THANK YOU!

Part 2 of pictures will be uploaded soon because SOMEONE NEEDS TO UPLOAD THEIR PICTURES ON FACEBOOK.

Hint: The one with braces.

(Not) My Graduation

ooh... 6 more days to Singapore!

It's funny looking at Facebook and realising that all of your friends have graduated from their respective schools. Although it has nothing to do with me, there is a slight nostalgia occuring - like a tiny portion of my brain saying "I have also graduated from my Singapore school". As a student of St Patrick's School (and proud to be) for one year, I have made many friends and many memories. I remembered clearly how much I hated the thought of studying in St Patrick's School to the point that I cried (bawled). Hearing so many bad things about the school, it disgusted me that I had obtained a lousy PSLE score, thus going to a lousy school. But God pulled me through, and I did in fact enjoy myself there. I met many cool people (students and teachers?!). Yes, teachers. In fact, all my teachers were pretty cool, especially my Chinese teacher. But all teachers did help me through the year - to the point that I was first in class for the year. :)

But it was really the friends that made the year a good one. When I realised that I had to move to Australia, I was sad that I had to leave. All those rumours were actually half true. One only had to mix with good company, then the school year would be a breeze. Fortunately, I did. And I forever thank God for the opportunity to meet these wonderful people.

So I see my friends graduating, and I can't help but feel that I have graduated too. I am extremely happy for them. They deserve it.

Year 11 Formal

I woke up very early today. So I might as well post the pictures of the formal. It was okay (I thought the Deb was better). It got boring at the start, then it gradually increased in excitement and fun. Maybe it's because of the music that the DJ played. Anyway, food was nice (could have been better). Company was awesome. Went back home around midnight. Slept like a baby after that.

Pictures tell a more interesting story...
