Work Experience (Part 2)

Just came back from work experience in Target. Let me tell you all about it...

I was extremely nervous while waiting for the doors to open. Anything could happen and I didn't know what to expect. 6 girls and I went inside to be briefed on (all the guys did it the week before =.=). We were sent to a meeting room and were "lectured" on safety rules and regulations. Then they showed us a dvd on electrical safety. I was so bored and sleepy during this debriefing that I yawned a couple of times. But after that they gave us a tour around the store and the staff rooms. Can you believe that they have a pool table in the tea room! Wow... that was cool!

After that, they let us have our first tea break as they were much info to take in on the first day. A few friends and I played pool while another few watched. Then we were sent to our different departments where we had to work for the day. I was sent to the kitchenware and bed department. I was like..."Shouldn't I be doing some manual handling?" And I did... Apparently, I had to carry leftover stock from the shelves and packed them into trollies and bring them to the trucks. It was actually pretty easy and a little fun. My supervisor was very friendly and easy to talk to.

After a few hours, we had our lunch breaks. Then, we had to continue where we left off. My supervisor has went back home and a friend and I were assigned a new one... This one was alright, but a little clueless. Haha...

Then, we had to tidy everything up in the bed section, like put all the pillows in the same direction. That was a real pain in the neck! It was boring... But time consuming... which made time go by faster.

I was so happy when I heard the announcement saying that the store was about to close so all staff members, including students doing work experience should start packing up... So I'm now at home, resting my very sore legs. I'm extremely tired but will be staying up to watch a show.
